What does Day Services offer?

Day Services now offer many varied supports and assistance to individuals who choose this route. Services are developed around an individual plan.

Some of the services offered are:

• Advocacy
• Social inclusion
• Assist with building relationships and support networks
• Vocational work and skills training through one-on-one assistance, job clubs, discussion with others, and hands on experience
• Paid supported employment
• Community based volunteerism/work experience
• On the job training in work related skills and work ethic
• Assist individuals in achieving their goals
• Community integrated services
• Promote independence
• Assist in meeting psychosocial needs
• Promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance
• Assistance with activities of daily living
• Health education
• Health monitoring
• Medication administration
• Range of motion therapy
• Transportation to scheduled community based events
• Seniors and recreation/leisure component
• Public transportation training

Anyone attending a day service needs to have expressed a desire to access the opportunities that the program offers. Programs vary in size, and staffing support is based on need.

It is encouraged that individuals come for a tour prior to making a decision about attending a day service in order to learn what their options are for support and services.

This allows for an informed decision that can be made in collaboration with the support networks.
